What is Family Sharing?
Family sharing is a feature that allows you to share access to your Airvet benefit with family, friends, or caretakers who will be looking after your pets without having to share personal account credentials! Simply invite them via email using the Family Sharing button in your app and they will have immediate access to your benefit.
The family-sharing feature is only available for select memberships. If you don’t see this option on your account, or if you have any questions surrounding its availability for your account, please reach out to support@airvet.com and we’d be happy to provide more information.
Can I share my Airvet benefit with my family and other caretakers of my pet?
Yes! You can now easily share access to your Airvet benefit with anyone who is taking care of your pet!
How do I share my account?
Sharing your account is quick and easy – simply navigate to the menu in the app, and either tap on your profile or the Family Sharing tab. From there, you simply enter the email of the person you’d like to share your account with and send them the invitation. Please see the guide below for reference!
An email will be sent to the recipient and they will be able to activate their access on their mobile device.
There are a couple of important things to know when sharing your account:
- The email link will expire after 24 hours, and can only be clicked/redeemed once per email.
- When the recipient taps the activation link on their mobile device, they will be taken to different landing pages depending on whether they’ve downloaded the app before.
- If they DON’T have the app downloaded: they will be taken to the App/Play Store to download the app. After it’s downloaded, once they launch the app, it will automatically open to the home screen of the shared profile.
- If they DO have the app downloaded: upon tapping the activation link on their phone, the app will open on the home screen of the shared profile so that they can start accessing the benefit right away!
- If they have the app downloaded & already have their own Airvet account: they will need to log out of their existing account before tapping the link in the email to share the benefit.
How many people can I share my account with?
At this time there is no limit to the number of people you can share your account with.
Can I remove someone's access from my account once I share it?
If you need to remove someone’s access to your account, you can do so by emailing our team at support@airvet.com. Please note that there currently isn’t a way for us to remove access for a single person, so we would need to revoke access for all users who share your account. After that point, you can then re-invite anyone you would still like to have access to your account.
Do I have to share my password if I share my account?
No, once you tap the button to share your account, the recipient will be emailed a link to claim their access. Once they tap the link, they will automatically be taken to the home screen of the app (or to the App/Play Store to download it, if they haven’t already done so) and can start utilizing the shared benefit immediately - no login credentials required!
However, please note that this email link will expire after 24 hours, so if they don’t tap it before then, a new share invitation will need to be sent to them.
I shared my account, but the person I shared it with says they're not able to log in. Why?
The link is valid for 24 hours and can only be clicked once – if they’re having trouble, you can always reshare the link to allow them to try again. Please note the link is intended to open the app on a mobile device - if the recipient opens it on their desktop, it will not guide them to the correct place and you will need to reshare access with them.
Please also double-check that there are no typos in the email address you are sharing access with and that it’s not caught in the recipient’s spam folder.
Will my account be shared indefinitely or will the people I share it with only be able to access it for a limited time?
Yes, once you share access, the recipient will maintain access to your benefit unless you revoke their access by emailing support.
For people logging in with Single Sign On (through either Okta or Google), every 90 days you will be required to re-login to your account. When this happens, access will be revoked for all people you’ve shared the account with, and will need to be re-shared with them upon logging in.
When I have a visit, will all of the people I share my account with receive notifications/incoming calls?
All visit and chat push notifications are delivered to all devices, and incoming video calls will be sent to the device that used the app most recently.
Can two people on the account join a video call with a vet at the same time from different locations?
Not at this time, but we’re continuously making improvements to the platform and we hope to make this a possibility in the future!
Can the people I share my account with edit my information?
Yes, at this time the people you share your account with will have full access to your account, so they would be able to edit your profile information.
Can my pet's information be edited by people I've shared my account with?
Yes, and new pet profiles can be added to your account as well.
