Do I have to start a video call, or is there a chat option?
Airvet members can chat with a pet expert about non-urgent, everyday care questions by selecting Chat from the home screen. A veterinary professional will respond to you within minutes - no question is too small.
Reminder: If you believe your pet is experiencing an emergency, please take your pet to an ER or vet clinic for treatment. If you are an active member eligible to use the Emergency Fund for a life-threatening emergency, alert our team via the emergency button on the home screen.
When should I use Chat?
The Chat option for Airvet members exists alongside our Video call and appointment options. Sometimes a question doesn’t require a video call, you may not be in a setting where you’re able to be on a video call, or you may prefer texting/chatting first. You’ll get personalized advice and care guidance from a veterinary professional who can answer your question or provide recommendations for next steps. It is meant to be used for non-urgent, everyday care questions, but not for urgent or complex medical questions.
How do I initiate a chat with a veterinary professional?
To initiate a chat, simply select the Chat option from the home screen of the app, select your pet, and begin the chat - within minutes you’ll be connected with a vet professional who can help!
Can I chat with a veterinary professional from my computer?
Airvet’s member Chat feature is only available via the app at this time.
What kinds of questions can I chat with a veterinary professional about?
Any general pet questions! No question is too small - from behavior questions, to supplement recommendations, to advice on training; we’re here to help however we can.
Note: Chat is intended for non-life-threatening, non-urgent requests and basic medical questions.
How much does a chat consult cost?
Airvet’s Chat feature is included in your membership! No extra fees required. For just $35/month (or $30/month when billed annually), you get access to unlimited virtual visits, chats, and appointments. What if I’m not a member?
The Chat feature is only available to Airvet members; however, you can still start an on-demand call at any time for a virtual visit with one of our thousands of world-class vets for $75/call.
How long will the chat stay open?
Once your questions have been answered and any concerns have been resolved, the veterinary professional will ask whether you have any additional questions. If you do not, they will close the chat. Whenever you have more questions, simply start another chat or video call!
How quickly will I get a response?
A veterinary professional will respond within minutes!
Can I use this 24/7?
Yes, just like a Video call, you can start a Chat any time, 24/7!
Can a Video call be initiated from a Chat if needed?
If you would like a video consultation, you’ll need to start a Video call from the home screen of the app. Video calls cannot be initiated through the Chat feature.
If my primary vet is in the Airvet network, will they be sent a transcript of the chat, like they would after a typical video call?
Your primary vet will not automatically be sent a chat transcript. However, the transcript of your conversation will always be available in your app under Menu>Cases>Closed. You can also email support@airvet.com if you would like a PDF of the transcript sent to your email.
Can I request prescriptions/prescription refills through chat?
Prescriptions and prescription refills cannot be filled through chat at this time.
What types of pets can I Chat about?
You can chat about dogs, cats and other common household pets at this time through the chat feature. Our chat veterinary professionals are familiar with some other species, but will refer you to make a video call with a Network veterinarian or reach out to the Airvet Support team (at support@airvet.com) if they are not familiar with less common species.
